Chanel. 2010
As you’ve probably figured out by now, the Golden Globes is one of the biggest fashion events of the year. I mean, who doesn’t love watching the hottest celebrities walking down the red carpet done up in gorgeous designer gowns. And while there are plenty of hits every year, there are bound to be some misses as well. Here are our picks for the best and worst dressed of the year.
Best

Anne Hathaway is usually drawn to girlier style dresses and this backless sequined dress by Armani Prive is super sexy without revealing too much.

Dressing for your baby bump at a glamorous event is no easy feat but Natalie Portman pulls it off in a beautifully draped Viktor & Rolf strapless gown.

Tina Fey is usually criticized for her overly conservative red carpet gowns and this time she sexed it up with a plunging neckline dress by L’Wren Scott in velvet, the season’s most lush fabric.

Her character on Glee is so buttoned up that I literally gasped when I saw Jayma Mays looking like an old Hollywood glamour goddess in this ‘40s-style gown.

Mila Kunis is a relative newcomer to major red carpet events and she impressed in her emerald green Vera Wang gown that really pops against her dark complexion.
Worst

Jennifer Lopez is back in the spotlight as an American Idol judge but this dress with an odd jeweled cape ages her about 10 years.

Halle Berry has a hot body, there’s no doubt about it, but this Nine Ricci dress doesn’t flatter her as much as it makes her look like she’s wearing a corset and a towel tied around her waist.

It’s hard to imagine the words Valentino and Michelle Williams not going together but this dress that looks like a bad ‘70s maxi dress is a disaster.

I really wanted to like the Burberry frock that Leighton Meester donned but the drab color and frumpy cut make it nearly impossible.

Heidi Klum usually knows how to work a red carpet but her limp hair and oddly bunched dress make her look like a hot mess.
Are you GUILTY of loving fashion? We are. We couldn’t possibly bear to leave the house looking wretched, even just to pick up a few groceries at the local supermarket. Especially without my perfect Lou Vuitton bag in tow. And what would the world be without mascara? Though we will admit, sometimes we could do without the pain inflicted by wearing 3” pumps. They sure do look good, and that’s all that matters. We know we’re not alone in this love of ours. Our love of fashion has been with us since toddlerhood! Pink frou-frou skirts and striped socks, curly locks and the perfect tiara to start it all. Through the years, people sought our advice. On everything fashion; including hair, apparel and beauty tips. Over time, we have connected with hundreds – if not thousands – of people who share in this love. They are equally as “guilty” of wanting to look good, feel good and step out into the world in style. They follow trends and talk about fashion with family and peers. They watch fashion-minded programs and subscribe to fashion magazines. Is fashion one of those ‘guilty’ pleasures? PERHAPS. Hence, the naissance of FASHIONGUILTY.COM was born! Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Fashion Guilty website. We are about to embark on something very exciting, and you’re invited! As one of our very first guests, you will be opened to a world of possibilities, with the underlying goal of reaching as many ‘fashionistas’ as possible from around the globe. Even though the world is separated by many boundaries, such as; cultural boundaries, language barriers, physical borders and ethnic diversity, there is one thing that connects us all. In one way, shape or form, the world is joined by fashion. It is the one underlying characteristic that we all have respect for, no matter what country we live in or where we are from. Fashion is at the root of every compliment and it encompasses so much more than just clothing. Fashion is a mindset. As we near the launch of our brand new website, FashionGuilty.com, our excitement is growing and so is our curiosity from new visitors. If you’re reading this, we hope you will join us on this revolution to bring people together on the one subject that everyone can agree on as fun. Fashion! I believe that we always want what we can’t have. In the sweltering summer we’re all dying for a cold breeze and a cozy sweater and after all the holiday fervor, all I can think about is pretty spring dresses and strappy sandals. We’ve got a long ways to go before the snow starts to melt and the tulip buds show themselves but in the spirit of the new year, here’s a roundup of what the biggest trends of Spring 2011 are shaping up to be. Adios, Jeggings: The rise of an infomercial (hello, pajama jeans) signals that a trend has officially gone too far. Refreshingly, for spring many of the designers widened up the legs on jeans and trousers to give our calves some room to breathe. Come spring, expect to see more flares than skinnies walking down the street. From left: Derek Lam, Hermes, Jason Wu all from Style.com Punchy Brights: If there ever was a time to experiment with color, spring is definitely it. Rock one candy-bright color, or mix it up with multiple shades as seen on the runways of Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander and Rachel Roy. Wear Your PJS to School Day: We all remember this day from elementary school. Just roll out of bed, brush your teeth and you’re good to go. Apply that same mentality to the latest in the bed wear- as-clothing trend. I’m especially crazy over the silk pajama pants that were popping up on the spring runways. Minimalist White: Like the little black dress, the perfect white shirt never goes out of style but this spring, an allover white look feels very chic.

Late last week, new-to-the-scene blogging platform Tumblr announced that they were sponsoring 20 of their site’s bloggers to attend February’s Fashion Week in New York complete with complimentary airfare and access to the shows. Jealous? Aren’t we all. The announcement reveals Tumblr’s desire to become the top blogging site for the fashion crowd. The site has a slightly different format than the fashion blogs that most of us know and love, featuring a more stream of conscious style of posting snapshots and daily inspiration rather than lengthier posts. Since Tumblr is posed to become a source of inspiration for the fashion community, here are a few of the best fashion themed Tumblr blogs to whet your appetite. Shoe Lust: The ultimate shoe porn blog. The contributors post nothing but photos of the hottest shoes out there from sequined oxfords to towering Versace platforms. What else could you ask for? What I Wore: One of the most well-known Tumblr blogs, Jessica Quirk documents her daily outfits here. Her quirky sense of style and blogging skills has even led to a book deal. Farpitzas: Sara Zucker was one of the bloggers that Tumblr has chosen to send to Fashion Week and her blog (which means all dressed up in Yiddish) is certainly worthy. My favorite part is when she answers readers questions about where to find fringe boots under $200 or what to pair with a white cape.
Fuck Yeah Menswear: Just as funny as the title suggests, this anonymous blogger attempts to make up for the lack of great menswear blogs with hilarious posts featuring chic dudes and poetic musings.
